Steps
- 1Make cake of choice and allow to fully cool.
- 2Optional: If there are hard crusty corners, you can remove those prior to crumbling cake.
- 3In large bowl, crumble cake with your hands. Make sure there are no large lumps. You can use a stand mixer if you have one.
- 4Add frosting and fully mix. Once fully combined, the cake should easily form into a ball. If it is not sticky enough, you can add more frosting (in 1 teaspoon increments). Set aside.
- 5In a microwave safe bowl, place ½ cup candy melts or chocolate chips.
- 6Microwave for approximately 30-60 seconds or until fully melted.
- 7If you do not have a microwave, you can melt chocolate using a double boiler.
- 8In cake popsicle mold, spoon about 1 tablespoon of melted chocolate. Using a spoon, spread the chocolate to evenly coat the entire inside of the cakesicle mold (bottom and sides).
- 9Place in refrigerator or freezer until chocolate is fully hardened.
- 10Roll cakesicle cake mixture into small oval balls (approximately the size of your cake popsicle mold).
- 11Press cake mixture into cakesicle mold. Top should be just slightly lower than top of mold (leave a small space for chocolate coating on top).
- 12Insert cakesicle sticks into cake popsicle mold.
- 13Spoon approximately ½ teaspoon melted chocolate on top of each cakesicle. Spread evenly with a knife or spoon.
- 14Clean any excess chocolate around the edges. If there is any remaining, you can also trim off after chocolate has hardened.
- 15Place Halloween cake popsicles back refrigerator or freezer until chocolate is fully hardened.
- 16Carefully remove Halloween cake popsicles from the mold. If there is excess chocolate around the edges, lay on a piece of parchment paper and trim with a small paring knife.
- 17You can use a combination of chocolate drizzle, edible sparkles or sprinkles to decorate your Halloween Cake Popsicles.
- 18In a microwave safe bowl, place ½ cup candy melts or chocolate chips.
- 19Microwave for approximately 30-60 seconds or until fully melted.
- 20You can use pre-colored candy melts or, if using white candy melts or white chocolate chips, you can add food gel or food coloring to achieve desired color.
- 21Add sprinkles or edible sparkles as desired.
